We invite applications for 8 PhD positions in astrophysics and in astroparticle physics at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, to work in various research groups within the Department of Astrophysics. There are positions available in the areas of astroparticle physics, cosmic rays, galactic magnetic fields, interstellar medium, electromagnetic follow-up of gravitational wave events, compact accreting objects, and the development of astronomical instrumentation for space-based radio astronomy.
The 4-year PhD program consists of a defined research project under the supervision of one or more staff members. The positions are open to candidates from any country. You should have a MSc in astronomy or physics. The starting date is typically in the Fall of 2019, but this is negotiable.
The Department of Astrophysics at Radboud University is part of the Institute of Mathematics, Astrophysics and Particle Physics (IMAPP). The vibrant and international department consists of 13 faculty, ~15 postdocs and engineers, ~30 PhD students, and ~10 Master students. Research activities focus on high-energy astro(particle) physics, black holes, cosmic rays, gravitational waves, stellar and binary evolution, star clusters and the Milky Way.
