She obtained the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1978 and received Master's degrees in Astrophysics and Doctor of Space Science, both by the National Institute of Space Research (INPE) in 1981 and 1990 respectively. She works at INPE since 1982, involved with modeling and numerical simulation of plasmas. In 1989 and 1990 she was a visiting scholar at EECS's UCS Theory and Simulation Group, UC Berkeley, where she worked on the development of particle in cell computational for modeling asymmetric RF discharges. Between 1999 and 2001 she was Academic Coordinator of the Post-Graduation Course in Space Geophysics at INPE. From January 2005 to February 2008, she was the Head of the Associated Laboratory of Plasmas (LAP) of INPE and from January of 2007 to February of 2008 she acted as Deputy Coordinator of the Coordination of Associated Laboratories (COCTE). In November 2010 she completed the Postgraduate course in Strategic Management of Science and Technology in IPP's by FGV. From March 2008 to August 2012 she was Chief of Staff of the Director of INPE. From November 2013 to March 2017 she was Academic Coordinator of the Post-Graduation Course in Space Geophysics at INPE. Since October 28, 2016 she is the Chief of Staff of INPE.
