It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Professor Sandro Radicella.
Sandro Radicella was born in Messina, Italy, and later lived in Argentina, where he obtained his degree in Physics from the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (UNT). In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in 2019.
He served as Head of the Telecommunications/ICT for Development Laboratory (T/ICT4D), formerly known as the Aeronomy and Radiopropagation Laboratory, at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy.
Dr. Radicella will be remembered as an outstanding researcher in ionospheric physics and radiopropagation, as well as for his tireless efforts to promote capacity building, particularly in developing countries. Through his scientific contributions and commitment to the international scientific community, he had a lasting impact on many researchers and institutions around the world.
Dr. Radicella had particularly strong ties with the ALAGE community . His passing is a great loss to our scientific community, and he will be deeply missed by his colleagues, collaborators, and friends.
